Engine
Two engine options are available. You can choose from a normally aspirated 3.5 litre v6 developing 400 bhp or a twin turbo 3.5 litre v6 developing a conservative 500 bhp. This increase in power coupled with a reduction in weight, results in a performance level that will embarrass many a supercar and will help to ensure that the Salica GT maintains its elevated position as one of the premier track day and B road drivers’ cars available. The new drive train layout locates the engine in its optimum position of being longitudinally mounted. This improves the weight distribution of the car, allows for easier cooling and layout of key components. The engine is dry-sumped, allowing it to be located lower in the chassis which reduces the car’s centre of gravity and body roll through a corner. Dry sumping also increases the power output due to a reduction in the amount of oil that clings to the the crankshaft. Of greater benefit is the improvement in engine reliability over a wet sump system.
Chassis
The three section, space frame chassis, provides great torsional rigidity which improves handling. The demountable front and rear sections allow easier access to and replacement of key components. By using the latest technologies in computer aided design software, we are able to develop a product much more quickly and with greater accuracy than was previously possible. Modeling software allows us to identify the torsional stresses within the chassis and to design an ultra stiff chassis without resorting to the use of more exotic technologies. We are able to explore the handling characteristics on both road and track and to select optimal settings for both situations. The car is available in left and right hand drive formats.
Unique Convertible / Hardtop Design
Designed to be a convertible with a hard top. The one piece, lightweight roof can be detached from the car and stowed under the rear clam within seconds. The refitting of the roof takes a similar amount of time and both operations can be carried out by one person.
Gearbox
The Graziano 6 speed H pattern, fully synchromesh transaxle gearbox with a torque rating of 560 ft/lb (750 Nm) completes the drive train arrangement. A choice of three final drive ratios are available. This gearbox is also used by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Aston Martin. For those wishing to race their Salica GT, a 6 speed, sequential, dog engagement gearbox is available.
Bodywork
The bodywork has been designed to be lighter in its GRP form without affecting its strength. A lightweight carbon fibre option is available for those requiring the ultimate in strength and weight saving.
Wheels and Tyres
Two wheel and tyre combinations allow you to have an optimal setup for both road and track driving. The track wheels are very strong and suitable for racing and coupled with the road legal, semi slick tyres, provide huge amounts of grip. The road tyres offer a higher level of grip in wet conditions.
Interior
The interior design provides for a recessed handbrake, the centre console houses the radio, heater controls and starter button, whilst the driver’s dashboard contains all of the important instruments in an easy to read layout. Trim levels are tailored to suit your needs and can range from the sumptuousness of leather and carpet to the stripped out, race look of an alcantara and carbon fibre finish. New, custom designed seats are available in GRP or carbon fibre.
Luggage boot
A boot under the front clam provides a generous area for storing luggage when going on a trip
Traction control
For those situations where you would prefer a little assistance, we offer optional traction control and ABS systems.
